The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended a search for a possible boat in distress in Frenchman’s Bay Sunday morning.

Command Duty Officer Matt Burt said the search was triggered by a report of a red flare distress signal Saturday night off Bar Harbor.

A 47-foot motor boat searched for several hours Saturday night. The search resumed Sunday morning with a boat and an airplane. The search failed to locate a boat in distress. It was suspended after two hours. Burt said the search would not resume unless there are new developments.
