BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Kennebunk senior Austin Weigle finished out his high school career in style Saturday, jumping a personal-best, state-leading 6-5 to take fourth in the high jump and earn all-New England honors at the New England outdoor track and field championships at Bridgewater State University.

Kennebunk’s Shelby Strickland, Weigle’s fellow senior and Class A state high jump champion, took eighth in the girls event with a jump of 5-3.

Four other locals also competed at the championships.

On the boys’ side, Sanford sophomore Peter Hegarty matched his personal best in the pole vault with a height of 12-6 to take 20th, while Thornton Academy senior Ryan Cadorette finished 20th in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 9:52.20.

On the girls’ side, Massabesic senior Angel Waters ran a time of 5:24.69 to finish 24th in the 1,600-meter run, while Mustangs junior Gabrielle Johnson ran a personal-best time of 11:49.64 to take 25th in the 3,200-meter run.
