Saco police said Saturday night they have located the vehicle they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that left an 87-year-old woman critically injured.

Police said a driver on Ferry Road told them she stopped to allow the woman, Jewell Frieman of Saco, to cross the road about 10 a.m. Saturday. However, the witness said, the driver of a white pickup truck heading east did not stop and hit Frieman.

The pickup driver then drove off, the witness told police.

Frieman was taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford and then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Saco police Sgt. Bruce Cote said. She was listed in critical condition Saturday night at Maine Med.

The witness told police that the pickup truck had toolboxes attached to the bed and red lettering on a door.

Police said they located and impounded the full-size pickup they had been looking for since the incident was reported. Police said their investigation is continuing and no charges were filed Saturday night.
