In my job as a maintenance man and driver at a home for developmentally disadvantaged adults, it was my responsibility to transport patients to medical appointments from Belfast to Portland.

It has been my observation that a disabled person who wished to make a lot of money could do so by suing the hundreds of businesses and medical establishments that have made a half-hearted effort or no effort at all to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The law is on the books, fellow citizens. No one chooses to be disabled. Let’s help our businesses and the folks who need access. Remember: One lawsuit can erase your profits for the year.
