On behalf of the Biddeford High School cross country and track and field teams, I want to thank all of our sponsors for once again supporting the Doc’s Tiger Road Race that was held on Friday, June 13.

Red and Steve Fleurant and the gang at Doc’s Tavern let us take over to conduct our annual road race that raises funds allowing BHS to award the Albert “Bruce” Brunelle Scholarship to graduating senior track runners.

For the third year in a row, rain descended on our event, again in a steady downpour, and threatened to dampen the festivities. However, one by one, the familiar faces and the ever-faithful Doc’s runners began to show up at the registration table. Not one of them ever doubted that the race would proceed.

Typical of the Doc’s event, milestones were witnessed and traditions were passed on. This year, “family” was the theme. Past BHS runners, including recipients of the scholarships, entered to run, some with their parents and others with their children and some with both. This resulted in three generations crossing the finish line.

The continued tradition and success of this event is due to the support from the Biddeford Police Department, ensuring the runners safety, as well as contributions from these local businesses and organizations: TJ’s Pizza, P&C Insurance, Saco & Biddeford Savings, Louis Pizza, Huot’s Seafood Restaurant, Saco Bay Tackle, Karen’s on Pool Street, Los Tapatios, George’s Italians, Dahlia’s, Elements, Nickie at Salon 171, Bill’s Pizza, Coastal Discount Beverage, Aquaboggan, and the athletes and friends, including Madeline Deshaise, of BHS cross country and track teams.

Thank you again to all the friends, sponsors and participants for the continued support of all the Tiger runners. See you next year.

Leslie Mourmouras, Biddeford
