BRUNSWICK — Ernest L. Frost Sr., 84, died June 15 at his home in Brunswick.

Born in Brattleboro, Vermont, on Aug. 19, 1929, he was the son of Harry and Mary Frost. He attended schools in Massachusetts, Missouri, and Vermont, then joining the Navy in 1945, where he served as a machinist’s mate on the USS Cowpens. Following his military service, he returned to New England, and was employed for many years as a machinist and bookbinder at the Brattleboro Book Press, retiring after many years.

During his lifetime, his interests included bowling, coin collecting, dancing, fishing, hunting, Civil War and family history, metal detecting, reading, movie watching, and scouring tag sales and thrift shops. As a child, he sang on a local radio program and maintained a lifelong love of music. He was a fun-loving friend to many, freely giving of his warm, gentle spirit. He was a member of the Brattleboro VFW, the Brattleboro Lodge #102, and the Cairo Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; their six cats; son Ernest Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Stewart; grandchildren; two stepchildren, Jason Barrows and Joella Barrows; as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

A graveside service was held at the North Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Vermont, June 21. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Windham County Humane Society, P.O. Box 397, Brattleboro, VT. 05302. Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, Brunswick.
