A US Airways flight landed safely at the Portland International Jetport Friday night after its pilot reported a problem with the aircraft’s flaps.

Portland Police Lt. Robert Ridge said the regional jetliner with 54 people aboard landed without incident and taxied to a gate shortly before 9 p.m.

He said the Portland Fire Department had its airport trucks standing by the main runway in case they were needed, but they headed back to garages after the plane landed.

The flight from Philadelphia landed at 8:51 p.m., about an hour late. It wasn’t clear if it was late due to the flap issue.
