Sending U.S. troops to Iraq is just like shooting ourselves in the other foot. We went into Iraq to help the Iraqis defend themselves. That is when we shot ourselves first.

Now that we have left, ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) has invaded Iraq, and the U.S.-trained Iraqi troops are dropping their weapons and running. Why should we send our brave soldiers to help theirs? They’ll just run again and use us as a crutch.

My brother is a Marine; I’m not willing to risk my brother’s life for a hopeless situation. We’ve lost too many men and women in the Iraq war.

We need to help ourselves, too. We are trillions of dollars in debt. We can’t afford another war. I urge the president to not send any other U.S. forces, whether they be advisers or troops, to Iraq.
