Velocity soccer holding tryouts

The Velocity premier soccer club is holding tryouts for its spring 2015 teams. U-12 through U-14 girls try out Saturday from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. U-15 and U-17 boys and girls try out July 12 from 12 to 1:30 p.m., and July 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All tryouts are at the Gorham Sports Center. Freeport coaching openings

RSU5 has several coaching openings for next school year. Freeport High has vacancies for boys’ first team soccer, assistant cross country, junior varsity field hockey, JV football, boys’ first team basketball, Nordic skiing and assistants for indoor and outdoor track. The middle school is seeking Alpine skiing, cheering, 7th grade boys’ soccer, 8th grade boys’ soccer, 8th grade boys’ basketball and an assistant for football. Maine Basketball Hall of Fame golf fundraiser upcoming

The first Southern Maine golf scramble to benefit the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame will be held Monday, July 21 at the Falmouth Country Club.
