BRUNSWICK — Calvin F. Taylor, 79, died June 23 at his home.

Taylor was born in Brunswick on Oct. 5, 1934, the son of Calvin B. and Helen Linnie Taylor. He graduated from Brunswick High School with its class of 1953. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He also served as a Brunswick police officer, the youngest at the time to have been sworn in. He later founded Taylor-Made Signs at Cook’s Corner, a long-established business that is now carried on by his son. Taylor was a member of the United Lodge of Masons.

He was predeceased by a brother, Detective Kenneth Taylor.

He is survived by his son, Robert Taylor, of Brunswick; a good friend and daughter of choice, Darci Westie and her husband Eric, of Brunswick; three sisters, Shirley T. Rollins and her husband Lawrence, of Bowdoinham, Mary J. Kellar and Taylor Cole, of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held July 1 at Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick, with the Rev. Roger Merrill officiating.

Interment will be in Litchfield Plains Cemetery.
