If I am not the first, let me add my vote in support for your commitment to journalism as expressed in your series, “Unsettled: Triumph and tragedy in Maine’s Indian country.”

I think it was either Molly Ivins or Jim Hightower who made the statement, “The only things in the middle of the road are white lines or dead armadillos.” I was wondering where your publication would fall, given the state of newsprint journalism.

Making a stand by giving your fine staff the professional freedom to develop a story like this, whose depth resonates throughout the fabric of this state and, indeed, this nation, gives me the answer I was looking for.

Make a difference for the good. Bring it on. I applaud your courage and your vision.
