Migrating Bird Talk, 4 p.m. in Camden

Dr. Yossi Leshem is a well-known ornithologist and environmental educator from Israel who will be the featured speaker at the Camden Public Library.

The talk on “Migrating Birds Know No Boundaries” is co-hosted by Mid-Coast Audubon Society, Coastal Senior College, and Congregation Adas Yoshuron of Rockland.

Leshem is a professor at Tel Aviv University and is the founder and director of the International Center for Bird Migration. He was the former director of The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel – the country’s largest not-for-profit organization. He has served in the Israeli Air Force.

His multimedia presentation at The Camden Public Library will focus on many aspects of his research on collisions between military aircrafts and large migrating birds, among other things.

Hike with a Ranger, 2 p.m. in Freeport

Educational nature programs at Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park run daily. Programs last one hour, weather permitting.

The nature programs are free with park admission, which is $1 for ages 5 to 11; $3 for 12 to 64; and free for Maine residents over 65 or under 5. For more information, call 865-4465.

Garden Tour 10 a.m. July 13, Rockport region

The annual Georges River Land Trust Gardens in the Watershed tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 13. Seven gardens in the watershed towns of Appleton, Rockport, Union and Warren will be open for visitors.

In addition, gardening experts will speak at two of the gardens. Bob Emmons, former professor of plant science at the State University of New York, will speak about Japanese beetles. Sharon Turner, master gardener, consultant, educator and garden designer, will speak on gardening for birds.

Tickets are available for $25 from local merchants and at www.georgesriver.org/garden. Tickets are $28 on the day of the tour and can be purchased at any garden site. To learn more, call 594-5166.

Wildlife Rehab, 2-3 p.m. July 15, Cape Neddick

The Center For Wildlife is holding its Tuesday afternoon summer tour series.

Learn about the center’s history and mission. After the presentation, a tour of the raptor enclosure will be given.

Cost is $5 per person. Reservations required for those ages 5 and older. The Center for Wildlife is located at 385 Mountain Road in Cape Neddick.
