As a new father continuing my family name here in America, and after reflecting on the recent editorial advocating paid parental leave which clearly agrees with my studies from the UMaine system, America needs to reconsider where the focus is.

In my studies we compared crime rates and mental health statistics with other countries based on services available, which obviously reflects financial compensation from states here in America.

Studies also indicate the importance of the family where the first three years of an infant’s life are of the utmost importance in human growth and development, thus signifying the importance, and benefits, of paid parental leave for family systems.
