Gov. Paul LePage states that Maine politics are reflective of the national political scene. The impotence of the political parties to fix anything in Washington is an embarrassing disgrace.

Interestingly in my memory, local government in Maine has only recently adopted the tone of the national scene, and in my opinion, it’s directly related to the harsh rhetoric from the governor himself. The political bashing coming from the governor’s office is disgraceful.

Furthermore, requiring photo identification of the poor and complicating their ability to put food on the table assumes all who use EBT cards should be suspected of welfare fraud.

Robbing people of their dignity to simply purchase food is stigmatizing and demoralizing.

Maine politics have started to reflect fighting among party lines, as in Washington, but only in recent memory. That’s why I will support Mike Michaud for governor.
