Authorities have called off a search for a 27-year-old man wanted in connection with a robbery and a domestic violence assault.

Jessy Kehling remained at large Saturday a day after eluding a large group of deputy U.S. marshals, Maine State Police and Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies in Standish. Kehling, who has lived in the Limington and Biddeford areas, had been stopped by police there Friday morning, but he drove off – in a car with three children inside – before he could be apprehended.

When his car was found, the children were still inside and unharmed, but Kehling had run off, apparently shirtless and barefoot, into nearby woods.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said the search was called off near dark Friday night and wasn’t resumed because authorities believe Kehling has left the area.
