NORTH ELBA, N.Y. — New York State Police said a small plane has crashed near Lake Placid, killing all three people on board.
Troopers say the single-engine plane burst into flames on impact at around 10:40 a.m. Saturday.
The plane crashed not far from the Lake Placid Airport. Firefighters extinguished the flames.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether the plane was landing or taking off when the crash occurred.
Troopers say investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are en route to the site.
They say a coroner has arrived as well. The identities of the victims haven’t been released.
Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains that was the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.
