Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a motorist driving north on Stack Pole Road in Durham veered into an embankment and struck several trees.

The driver, whom police did not name but described as a 20-year-old woman, was thrown from her car, a 1999 Honda CRV, and died at the scene, state police Sgt. Kyle Tilsley said Sunday night.

She was alone in the vehicle, police said.

Tilsley said police do not believe the woman was intoxicated, and the matter is still under investigation.
