FARMINGTON — Fire officials say a lightning strike started a blaze at a Farmington apartment building that caused as much as $100,000 in damage.

Deputy Chief Clyde Ross says 13 people were displaced from the four-unit Blueberry Hill apartment building but there were no reports of injuries after the fire reported just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

He tells the Sun Journal that by the time firefighting crews arrived, all the residents were out, but heavy smoke could be seen.

The fire was inside the crawl space and roof of the 2 1/2-story building.

Sixty firefighters from departments in Farmington, Chesterville, Industry, Jay, New Vineyard, Temple, Wilton, New Sharon, Phillips and Strong responded.
