The Maniacs 15-U AAU team fell 56-53 in overtime to the Philadelphia Triple Threat in the Elite 8 of the Junior Nationals on Friday morning in Washington, D.C.

The Maniacs trailed 53-50 when South Portland’s Maddy Hasson made a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in overtime. Philadelphia regained the lead on a 3-pointer with five seconds left.

Hasson finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Maniacs, who finished the tournament with a record of 4-1.

Emily Jacques of Edward Little chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds for the Maniacs.

GOLF

PGA: Two-time winner Jim Furyk birdied two of his last four holes Friday for a 7-under 63 and a share of the Canadian Open lead with Tim Petrovic.

The 44-year-old Furyk, the 2006 winner at Hamilton and 2007 champion at Angus Glen, matched Petrovic at 10-under 130 at Royal Montreal. Petrovic followed his opening 64 with a 66.

LPGA: The United States shuffled its lineup in the second round of the International Crown and got the desired result, beating Spain twice to earn its first points in the eight-country competition in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Lexi Thompson and Cristie Kerr took control on the back nine against Belen Mozo and Beatriz Recari in a 3-and-2 win, and Paula Creamer and Stacy Lewis held on to beat Azahara Munoz and Carlota Ciganda 2 up.

SENIORS: Bernhard Langer has a seven-stroke cushion to take into the third round of the Senior British Open in Bridgend, Wales, after shooting a 5-under 66 to add to his opening 65.

EUROPEAN TOUR: David Horsey shot a 4-under 68 for a two-stroke lead at the halfway mark of the Russian Open in Moscow.

The 29-year-old Englishman birdied four of the last six holes for an 11-under 133.

HOCKEY

NHL: Goalie James Reimer and the Toronto Maple Leafs avoided salary arbitration, agreeing to a two-year $4.6 million contract.

TENNIS

CROATIA OPEN: Top-seeded Fabio Fognini rallied to defeat Borna Coric of Croatia 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the quarterfinals in Umag.

Defending champion Tommy Robredo also advanced to the last four after beating fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-1, 6-4.

SWISS OPEN: Robin Haase advanced to the semifinals by beating defending champion Mikhail Youzhny 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in Gstaad.

BAKU CUP: Elina Svitolina of Ukraine moved her title defense into the semifinals by dispatching Pauline Parmentier of France 6-4, 6-4 in Azerbaijan.

ATLANTA OPEN: Top-seeded defending champion John Isner advanced to the semifinals, beating Australia’s Marinko Matosevic 7-6 (8), 6-4.

BASEBALL

FCBL: Carson Helms had three hits, three RBI and scored once to pace the Nashua Silver Knights (23-18) top a 12-0 win over the host Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (13-28).

Aaron Wilson had three hits and a stolen base for the Tide.

NECBL: Vladimir Gomez hit a two-run single during a five-run second inning and finished with three RBI, and Vinny Siena had three hits, two RBI and two runs to lead the North Adams SteepleCats (16-17) to a 9-4 win over the host Sanford Mainers (20-13).
