AUGUSTA — Beverly Ann Mooney, 86, of Riverside Drive, died July 26, 2014 at her home, after an extended illness.

She was born in Biddeford on March 18, 1928, the daughter of Paul Napoleon Chenard and Annie Isabelle (Seavey) Chenard.

Mrs. Mooney was a graduate of St. Andre’s High School in Biddeford. She continued her education at the Sister’s Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her degree as a registered nurse.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a psychiatric nurse at the Veterans Hospital at Togus for 26 years. She was previously employed by the Augusta State Hospital for several years.

Mrs. Mooney was a member of St. Michael Parish at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she had been a lector and Eucharistic minister. She had been a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and served as a member of the Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley.

Her husband, Paul C. Mooney, preceded her in death on March 12, 1997.

She was also preceded in death by: three brothers, Lawrence Chenard, Robert Chenard and Cpl. Richard Chenard.

Surviving are: a daughter, Barbara Weiss and her husband David of Augusta and their sons David Jr. and Carter; four sons, Russell Mooney and his wife Lori of Wilbraham, Massachusetts and their three children Caitlin and her husband Nathan Eckoff, Courtney and her husband Kenneth Burgos and Connor Mooney, Leon Mooney and his wife Susan of South Portland and their two children Amber and Kevin, Jay Mooney of Chelsea, and Richard Mooney of Augusta; one brother, Philip Chenard of Erie, Pennsylvania; four sisters, Frances Callahan of Saco, Patricia Pinette and her husband Donald and Alice Casavant, all of Biddeford, and her twin sister, Sr. Ann Paul of Buffalo, New York; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rachel Lombard, Mary Ann Meek, Karin Thibodeau and June Mahaney.

Friends and family may visit on Thursday, July 31 from 7-9 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Augusta.
