The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of Maine and New Hampshire for showers and thunderstorms that could produce hail and gusty winds through early evening.

The weather service tracked a storm system that passed over communities including Gray, Freeport and Harpswell.

By 7 p.m. the weather service had scaled back its hazardous weather outlook to western Maine and parts of New Hampshire.

The weather service said heavy downpours, hail, lightning and gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph could be expected.

Minor flooding is possible.

Boaters were warned to seek safe harbor.
