SOUTH PORTLAND — A traffic accident in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295, near Exit 4 in the Maine Mall area, is causing traffic delays during the evening commute.

A dispatcher for the Maine State Police said that the accident occurred around 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, and that the damaged cars had been moved into the breakdown lanes.

The dispatcher said traffic should be moving through the area as soon as the cars can be moved. No one was injured in the accident.
