If you are a part-time Market Basket worker, and have been told that you won’t be scheduled for more hours, you may be eligible for unemployment benefits. Even if you just have your hours reduced, you may still be eligible to receive benefits.

Contact the Maine Department of Labor to file for unemployment. Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis. Even if you are eligible, there is a one-week mandatory waiting period for which benefits will not be paid.

Employees who are fired because of misconduct, or who voluntarily walk off the job are not eligible for unemployment benefits.

For assistance in filing a claim, you may call the department at 1-800-593-7660.
