PORTLAND — The Portland Public Schools hired three new administrators, including Ellen Sanborn as chief financial officer.

Sanborn was the city’s finance director for the past six years.

She joined the city of Portland as senior accountant for the Parks and Public Works Department in 1984, and later advanced to the Finance Department.

Sanborn has served on the boards of the Maine Government Finance Officers Association, Portland Downtown District and Portland Fish Exchange. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine, where she received a degree in accounting.

In addition to Sanborn, Jennifer Searway was named director of the West Program, and Patricia Crowley-Rockwell is the new assistant principal at King Middle School.

Bethany Connolly was also reappointed as assistant principal at Lincoln Middle School.

“These administrators bring extraordinary talent and skills,” Superintendent of Schools Emmanuel Caulk said in a press release. “They will help us advance in our effort to become the best small urban school district in the country by 2017.”
