Watch a free screening of the documentary “To Make a Farm,” followed by a discussion about Maine’s food future, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 in the Rines Auditorium at the Portland Public Library. The event is sponsored by Environment Maine.
The documentary explores the lives of five young people who decide to become small-scale farmers. After the film, a panel of experts active in the local food movement will discuss their own work and field questions from the audience.
The panelists are Penny Jordan, fourth-generation farmer of Jordan’s Farm at Cape Elizabeth and The Farm Stand in South Portland; Ben Tettlebaum, Conservation Law Foundation’s Farm and Food Initiative specialist; David Levi, owner and executive chef at Vinland restaurant; and Blair Currier, the former local food specialist for Portland Public Schools.
