OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Joyce Dora Palmitessa, 77, passed away on Aug. 11, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.
She was born in Caribou, a daughter of the late Arsene and Elma (Belanger) Pelletier.
Joyce grew up in Biddeford and graduated from school in Biddeford.
She resided in Old Orchard Beach for nearly 50 years.
Over the years, she worked as a saleswoman for the Singer Sewing Machine Company, at Zayre’s, and more recently, she worked as a cook in area nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Joyce was an avid reader ”“ especially Stephen King books; she enjoyed boating on the Saco River, going to yard sales, and supported the Humane Society.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald Palmitessa, who died in 2008; and siblings, Kenneth, Nancy and John.
Joyce is survived by: her children, John Palmitessa and his wife Mary of Saco, Lynn Plante and her husband David and Gina Palmitessa and her partner James Breton, all of Old Orchard Beach; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach. Arrangements are with Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.
