KENNEBUNKPORT — JoAnn Poli, 84, of Kennebunkport, passed away at her home the morning of Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 in her sleep with her family around her.

She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 27, 1930, the only daughter of Phillip and Elodie Champion’s five children.

She was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from Corpus Christi High School. She attended the University of New England in the accounting program.

JoAnn married Nick Poli on April 19, 1968. They lived in Kennebunk for a brief time before building their house in Kennebunkport in 1978.

She was a homemaker who worked part-time as a bookkeeper for several small companies over the past 40+ years.

Her hobbies included gardening and travel. She was an avid reader, especially of medical journals, and enjoyed completing word puzzles. Most of all, JoAnn loved spending time with her friends and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her brother, Edward; and her grandson, Kenneth Hill.

JoAnn is survived by: her husband of 46 years, Nick Poli; brothers, Grover, Frank and Joseph Champion; children, Linda, George, Wanda, Debra, Greg; stepdaughters Nancy and Rita; 10 grandchildren; and five great-granchildren.

A celebration of her joining God in Heaven will be on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 1-4 p.m. at 138 Wildes District Road, Kennebunkport.
