SOUTH PORTLAND — Police have charged three juveniles they suspect in connection with a rash of home burglaries around the city’s Redbank neighborhood this summer.

The theft and burglary charges are for break-ins at 30 homes that began in early July, police Sgt. Steve Webster said Tuesday night.

The burglars stole personal items during daylight and nighttime hours. In at least one case, the homeowner was sleeping when the burglars broke in.

Police found the suspects because of a tip and say many of the stolen items have been recovered.

The juveniles were placed under house arrest.
