HALLOWELL — Dorothea “Maxine” Sait, 95, of Balsam Drive, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, after a short stay at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

Maxine was born in Dixfield on April 7, 1919, the daughter of Conie A. and Lena Belle (Newman) Masterman.

She attended local schools before graduating from Westbrook Junior College in 1939.

She married Harry J. Sait in 1945, after he returned from serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

She settled and raised her family in Saco and moved to Granite Hill Estates in her later years.

Maxine loved to do counted cross stitch and knitting, but her passion was quilting. She made many beautiful hand-stitched quilts, which are loved and enjoyed by her friends and family.

Maxine was preceded in death by: her husband, Harry, in 1983; and her sister, Barbara Larrabee, in 1992.

Maxine is survived by: her sister, Arlene “Kippy” Mitchell; her two sons, James and his wife Linda of Herald, California, and David and his wife Claudia of Readfield; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff at Granite Hill Estates as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Maine General Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed to Maxine and her family during her stay.

There will be no visiting or services at this time. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Ferry Road, Saco. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to your favorite charity in Maxine’s name.
