Especially because of the Supreme Court’s recent decisions giving corporations the right to pour vast amounts of money into the election process, Shenna Bellows’ Senate candidacy is a true gift.
She has an outstanding record of defending the rights of regular working people, including her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership. (Sen. Susan Collins remains silent on her position to the trade pact.) It is being pushed by big corporations and would continue to offshore American jobs because of their single-minded attention to the bottom line – and CEO salaries.
Corporations have powerful advocates in Washington. It is the people in our vanishing middle class who need an effective ally like Democrat Shenna Bellows in the halls of Congress.
