Noah Wolfinger, Cape Elizabeth football: Wolfinger rallied the Capers to a 35-34 win over Leavitt, the defending Class C state champs, with a 61-yard touchdown pass with seven seconds left in regulation and another scoring pass in OT before sealing the win with an interception of a two-point conversion. He had three interceptions, including one for a 90-yard touchdown.

Honorable mention

Jacob Nason, Greely soccer: Nason scored a breakaway goal in the second half to give the Rangers a 1-0 win over Yarmouth in a rematch of the 2013 Western Class B championship game.

Ahmed Suja, South Portland soccer: Suja scored one goal and assisted on the Red Riots’ other two in a 3-0 victory against Thornton Academy.

George Gilbert, Falmouth football: Gilbert took the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown in the opening game against Gorham and added touchdowns on a 32-yard pass from quarterback Noah Nelson and an 81-yard punt return in a 49-0 win over Gorham.

Girls

Liz Helmreich, Sanford field hockey: Helmreich scored six goals in two games for the Spartans. She had two goals, including the winner in the second overtime, in a 3-2 victory over Massabesic. She then added four more in a 6-0 win over Noble.

Honorable mention

Maddie Amidon, York soccer: Amidon scored 25 seconds into the match and added another goal in the 21st minute to stake the Wildcats to a 2-0 lead in a 3-1 win over defending Class B state champion Cape Elizabeth.

Ashley Gleason, Scarborough soccer: Gleason scored the winning goal after assisting on the tying goal in a 2-1 win against Portland.

Hannah Butland, Greely volleyball: Butland had seven aces, two kills and 16 assists as the Rangers beat Yarmouth, 3-1.
