POWNAL — Pete LaMagna rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns as the Freeport High School football team improved to 1-1 with a 32-14 Western Maine Class C win over Gray-New Gloucester on Saturday at Pownal Recreation Field.
LaMagna scored on Freeport’s first two possessions — a 48-yard touchdown run and a 14-yard scamper — for a 12-0 lead, and Eli Fox threw to wide open Jake Perry for a second quarter score and an 18- 0 edge.
LaMagna’s finished off a third-quarter drive with a 4- yard TD run for a 26-2 Falcons lead. Gray-New Gloucester made it interesting, scoring twice to close to 26-14, but Tyler Julien, one play after a fake punt conversion by Brady LaFrance, finished off the Patriots with a 23-yard TD run.
Freeport is slated to visit Poland on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Blue Blazes (1-1) jumped out to a 38-0 halftime lead en route to a Western B win over the 0-2 Eagles at Westbrook on Friday.
Maurice Johnson rushed for a pair of scores and returned a punt for a TD. Bailey Sawyer toss two touchdown passes to Bailey Ryan as Westbrook improved to 1-1.
Mt. Ararat, which visits Fryeburg Academy (1-1) this upcoming Saturday at 1:30 p.m., was led by Dante Dangerfield, who rushed for 67 yards.
“We got behind early and even when we established some good drives, we put the ball on the ground,” said Mt. Ararat coach Frank True.

FALMOUTH 55
Connor Aube scored five touchdowns as 2-0 Falmouth rolled to a Western B win over 1-1 Morse on Friday.
Aube rushed for 177 yards on 13 carries, caught a TD pass and returned a secondhalf kickoff for a score.
Falmouth scored on the final play of the first half on a pass from Noah Nelson to Aube.
Morse got on the board in the second half on a 4-yard slant pass from quarterback Connor Upham to Damon Osmond. Dillion Havener added a late 5-yard TD run for the Shipbuilders.
The Shipbuilders are slated to visit 0-2 Gardiner this upcoming Friday at 7 p.m.
