We are a family with two Scarborough High School hockey players and we know all too well what’s it’s like to wake up at 4 a.m. to make a 5:30 a.m. team practice. Hockey is a sport that draws dedicated players and families. Early morning practices are part of the hockey culture, but it’s time for Scarborough to build an indoor ice rink of its own.

The Girls and Boys hockey teams are the only teams at our high school that are asked on a regular basis to practice in the early morning hours before the sun even rises and then to perform academically throughout the day. Our students deserve an ice rink they can call home, next to the school that will be accessible to our students at a reasonable time of the day. We hope the Town Council will take the students of Scarborough into consideration as it reviews the proposed ice rink plan from the Friends of Scarborough Hockey.
