MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police in Manchester, New Hampshire, say a suspect is in custody after getting a report of a 21-year-old former high school student seen entering the building with a handgun tucked in his waistband. The school remained under lockdown.

Sgt. Brian O’Keefe says the former student was seen entering West High School Thursday morning. He said the school was in lockdown as a precautionary measure and that “all kids are safe.” He said no threats have been made.

As of Thursday morning, numerous police cars had surrounded the school in New Hampshire’s largest city is about 20 miles south of Concord. It has about 1,300 students.
