What happened to those childhood admonitions “nobody likes a bully?” They must have been wrong. Apparently there are many Mainers who think bullies should be leaders. I’m saddened by the fact that Gov. LePage’s approach is always “my way or the highway.”
This time around we need a governor who won’t make Maine the butt of so many late night comics, one who will make the Maine brand a proud one again.
Mike Michaud has always worked with his colleagues respectfully no matter what side of the aisle they were on. Mike has compassion and will work to provide health insurance at last to thousands of Mainers including many of our veterans (70,000 Mainers have been denied coverage because the governor refused to accept federal money to expand Maine Care.) I’m urging you to vote for Mike because Mike will be a governor we can be proud of. I’m reminded of President Gerald Ford’s comments in his inaugural speech “our long national nightmare is over.” Citizens of Maine will receive that kind of assurance when Mike Michaud is sworn in as governor.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
