Eliot Cutler has failed to get support from environmentalists like me for a simple reason: because his record is worse on the environment than Mike Michaud’s. While Rep. Michaud has racked up a 92 percent pro-environment voting record, Cutler has been simply absent from public policymaking for most of the last four decades. I’m 39 years old, have two kids, and the only examples he can come up with for how he’s helped the environment happened before I was born!

The truth is, there’s only one candidate in the gubernatorial race who has taken money from polluters to work to weaken the Clean Air Act. As the Maine Sunday Telegram reported on the front page Sept. 14 (“The working life of Eliot Cutler”), that candidate is independent Eliot Cutler.
