I am writing to express my strong support for my friend and colleague, Senator Stan Gerzofsky.

Stan and I have served together since we were both elected to the Maine Senate in 2008. Through our time as Senators, I have always appreciated Stan’s passion for serving his district, his experience around big issues, and his deep respect for the institution we were elected to.

Stan has served as a staff member in the Legislature, as a respected leader in both the Maine House and Senate, and has owned and operated a small business. He is a no-nonsense advocate for working Mainers, and for the region he serves: Brunswick, Harpswell, Pownal, Freeport, and North Yarmouth.

When I have questions about criminal justice, and Maine’s jails and prisons, I go to Stan — who chairs the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. When I have questions about economic development in the southern Midcoast, I go to Stan, who has been a force in advocating for the redevelopment of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

And when other members need to be reminded of why they serve in Augusta, Stan is always the first one to deliver a clear message: we fight for the underdog. Whether it is taking on the gun lobby in support of background checks to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of drug dealers and domestic abusers, or in citing how hard his mother Molly worked to raise him in arguing for raising Maine’s minimum wage, Stan has never once forgotten where he comes from and who sent him to work in Augusta.

I urge you to re-elect Senator Stan Gerzofsky on November 4th.

Sen. Justin Alfond
Portland
