PORTLAND — The Professional Bowlers Association will hold a league championship tournament for the first time in Maine.

The three-day event will be held March 27-29 at Bayside Bowl.

The PBA, with over 4,300 members across 13 countries, is known as the major league of bowling in the world. Players will compete for $250,000 in prize money. League promoters say the event will draw national attention, as PBA ESPN events reach over 500,000 viewers per broadcast. State and local tourism officials expect this event will deliver an estimated $1.5 million contribution to the local economy.
