Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc. is pleased to host a lecture by author Henry Petroski on his latest book The House with Sixteen Handmade Doors: A Tale of Architectural Choice and Craftsmanship on Monday, October 6, at 7 p.m. at Winter Street Center, 880 Washington Street in Bath. Dr. Petroski, a professor of engineering and history at Duke University, is the author of eighteen publications including The Evolution of Useful Things and The Pencil and was called “America’s poet laureate of technology” by Richard G. Weingardt in a 2006 article in Structure Magazine. A part-time Maine resident, this latest publication by Dr. Petroski shares the history and design of his and his wife Catherine?s 1950s home in Arrowsic. Following the lecture, there will be a book signing. Copies of the book, provided by Bath Book Shop, will be available for purchase.
