We will vote for the Cape Elizabeth Thomas Memorial Library renovation because it benefits us both directly and indirectly.

Directly, the library’s benefits include welcoming us into a new community when we moved back to Maine. The renovation will be even more welcoming. Also, we saved over $1,500 last year by using library collections and services. The new meeting rooms for expanded programming will add to these.

Indirectly, we receive even greater benefits. For one example, as preschoolers learn to love reading in Rachel’s story times, we benefit (despite having no grandchildren here). These preschoolers will do better in school (costing taxpayers less) and build a better society. The renovation will increase both their participation and our indirect benefits, which will enhance property values.

The renovation is an excellent investment.
