Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, right, shakes hands with bakery employees as Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, center, looks on, during a campaign stop, Friday, Oct. 10 in Hartford, Conn. Patrick was in Connecticut to campaign for Malloy on Oct. 10 to highlight the governor’s efforts to increase Connecticut’s minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

Connecticut was the first state to pass legislation that set an eventual $10.10 an hour wage. It’s the same wage President Barack Obama has called for on the national level.

Malloy’s Republican rival, businessman Tom Foley, has said he supports increasing the national minimum wage, calling it “a fairness issue.”

A new Quinnipiac University Poll shows Malloy and Foley in a dead heat.
