BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford arts organization Engine, 265 Main St., presents PechaKucha Night Biddeford Vol. 8 on Wednesday, with a special theme, “The Spirit of Start Ups.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and the event starts at 7:20 p.m.

The evening will include six presentations by entrepreneurs from the area including Claudia and Ken Raessler from the Saco River Dyehouse, Tina Guay and Jim Cotsis from Four Corners Frame Shop & Gallery, Dana Johnson from A Healthy Life, Murray Long from Wicked Good Ice, Tyler Gaudet of Fluid Farms, and John Turner of Traps Sunglasses. Each presenter will talk about launching their own business. The evening is sponsored by Blackstone Accelerates Growth and Banded Horn Brewery.

PechaKucha Nights happen all over the world. PechaKucha is a simple presentation format where the presenter shows 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images advance automatically and presenters talk along to the images. The presentation format was devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein Dytham architecture of Tokyo as a fun but focused way to present creative work.
