SANFORD — Winless Noble is winless no more, as the Knights used a stout defense to upset host Sanford 27-7 in a Western Class A football game at Cobb Stadium on Friday night.
Otto Keisker threw a 9-yard pass to Isaac Houston to give Noble (1-6) a 7-0 halftime lead.
Nick Love ran in from five yards out to tie the game for Sanford (3-4) early in the third quarter.
That was the all the Knights allowed on defense, a unit which had a score of its own on a 57-yard scoop and score by Matthew Guy in the fourth quarter.
Kasey Rogers added two second-half touchdowns for Noble, as he scored on a 3-yard run and caught a 35-yard scoring pass from Keisker.
Girls Soccer
KENNEBUNK 6, FALMOUTH 5, 2OT
KENNEBUNK – Cara McCluskey scored with 20 seconds left as Kennebunk beat Falmouth 6-5 in double overtime in a WMC girls soccer game at Veterans Memorial Field on Friday night.
The Rams (7-3-3) jumped ahead 3-0 by the midway point of the first half and still led 3-2 at halftime. The Yachtsmen (6-5-2) rallied all the way back and jumped ahead 4-3 midway through the second half. The teams traded goals, then Kennebunk scored the equalizer with 1:48 left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
Boys Soccer
GORHAM 6, MASSABESIC 1
WATERBORO — Nate Roberts scored 27 seconds into Friday night’s game against Massabesic and Gorham never looked back, as the Rams rolled to a 6-1 victory in an SMAA boys soccer game at Massabesic High School.
Jackson Fotter scored 46 seconds later for the Rams (11-0-3), who spoiled the Mustangs’ (0-13-0) senior night.
Fotter scored another goal and Tyler Richman got in on the action as Gorham led 4-0 at halftime.
Fotter finished a hat trick six minutes into the second half.
Dylan Blackington ended the shutout on Massabesic’s lone goal with 6:03 remaining.
Jackson Taylor rounded out the scoring 1:27 later.
Justin Crowley stopped 12 shots in net for Massabesic, while Gorham’s Trenton Bassingthwaite made six saves.
