LEWISTON — Frank Williams caught a tying 3-yard touchdown pass from Matt Cannone with 33 seconds remaining, then scored on 25-yard reception in the first overtime period to lift Bates College (2-4) to a 34-28 win over Colby (1-5) before a homecoming crowd at Garcelon Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats held Colby without a gain on three downs to begin overtime before the Mules missed a 42-yard field goal wide right. Bates opened its possession with a screen pass for no gain before Cannone hit a wide-open Williams over the middle inside the five. Williams trotted into the end zone to end the game.

Colby had the ball and a 28-21 lead late in the fourth quarter when Jabari Hurdle-Price fumbled, with Bates’ Adam Cuomo recovering on the Colby 18 with 2:06 left, setting up Williams’ tying catch.

Cannone completed 18 of 32 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns for the Bobcats. Colby’s Gabe Harrington also threw four touchdown passes – two each to Ryder Arsenault and Nick Joseph – and was 13 of 38 passing for 234 yards.

WESLEYAN 35, BOWDOIN 0: Jesse Warren threw five touchdown passes, including three to Josh Hurwitz, and the Cardinals (5-1) rolled to a NESCAC victory over the Polar Bears (2-4) at Middletown, Connecticut.

Warren finished 19 of 30 for 181 yards, with seven of those completions going to Hurwitz, who had 74 yards.

Wesleyan outgained Bowdoin 417-170 and made three interceptions.

HUSSON 47, CASTLETON STATE 26: John Smith rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns, and the Eagles (5-1, 4-0 ECFC) used a 28-point second quarter to rout the Spartans (4-2, 2-2) at Castleton, Vermont.

Logan Steward added 120 yards on the ground with two scores of his own. Joe Seccareccia was 13 of 24 for 173 yards, with a TD pass to Josiah Hartley.

Hartley’s 25-yarder made it made it 23-13 with 8:19 left in the second quarter. Husson then forced a three-and-out, and followed with a 51-yard drive that Steward capped with a 1-yard scoring run.

MAINE MARITIME 62, NICHOLS 43: Jacob Doolan rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns, Michael Fahey threw three TD passes and rushed for two more scores, and the Mariners (3-3, 2-2 NEFC) held off the Bison (1-7, 0-5) at Dudley, Massachusetts.

Maine Maritime took the lead for good on Doolan’s second touchdown, a 3-yard run 30 seconds into the second quarter that made it 20-16.

Fahey finished 5 of 9 for 145 yards passing and added 79 yards rushing as Maine Maritime amassed 459 of its 604 yards on the ground.
