A PICKUP TRUCK STRUCK a car and then a porch along Harpswell Road in Brunswick Monday afternoon.

Brunswick police and fire departments responded to a Harpswell Road home Monday afternoon where a pickup truck hit a porch.

Workers on scene with Ray Labbe and Sons, who had the road reduced to one lane for construction, said they had tried to stop the driver, who had fallen asleep at the wheel at one point, but continued to drive on.

Brunswick Police Captain Mark Waltz said this morning that a white 1995 GMC pickup truck driven by Gene K. Glaser, 54, of Brunswick was driving south on Harpswell Road in a construction zone. The truck hit cones, just missing construction workers, then hit and spun around a 2010 Hyundai driven by James Dall, 52, of Brunswick. The truck then accelerated and ran into a house at 95 Harpswell road.

Waltz said Glaser, who appeared intoxicated to officers, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger and habitual motor vehicle The crash was reported at 4:09 p.m.

Police said Dall was transported to Parkview Adventist Medical Center with minor injuries.

Firefighters on scene secured the house at 95 Harpswell Road, taping off the porch area. Labbe workers boarded up the porch door as an added safety precaution.
