A RECENT FOGGY MORNING VIEW of the Black Bridge spanning the Androscoggin River between Brunswick and Topsham. The historic railroad bridge was built in 1909 by the Pennsylvania Steel Company with a second deck suspended under the truss of the bridge for road traffic. The lower deck was closed in 2011 after an investigation determined that it was no longer structurally sound, and was demolished this year leaving only the upper rail bridge.
