An 81-year-old man in Strong was recently charged with domestic violence assault for throwing a cereal bowl that hit and injured his 4-year-old grandchild, police said.

Police were called early Wednesday morning to the home of Allan Scamman, who lives with other family members on Norton Hill Road in Strong, said Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Nichols said Scamman became angry when someone changed the channel while he was watching TV. Scamman is then alleged to have thrown his cereal bowl, which struck the 4-year-old girl in the leg.

Nichols said the impact “was enough to make her cry” but did not cause any injury that needed treatment.

A family member called police and Scamman was arrested by Deputy Sandy Burke on the Class D charge of domestic violence assault.
