The body of William K. Hoch, the South Gardiner man missing since Nov. 2, was found Saturday morning by a concerned neighbor, police said.

Hoch, 47, hadn’t been seen or heard from by his family for six days. Gardiner Police Chief James Toman said a neighbor found Hoch’s body shortly after 10:30 a.m. just off of Route 24 near Sherburne Avenue in South Gardiner.

There was no visible signs of trauma on the body, and no foul play is suspected, Toman said.

Toman said Saturday afternoon officials aren’t releasing any more details about the death yet. The state medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death, he said.

Gardiner police asked for the public’s help Friday in finding Hoch because Hoch’s relatives were concerned about not having heard from him since Sunday. Police recovered the vehicle Hoch was driving, a white 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass, Friday night, Toman said. The police chief said Friday that Hoch also didn’t have the medication he had been taking daily.

“We appreciate the public’s assistance, and we express our deepest condolences to the friend and family,” he said. “Certainly not the outcome we had hoped for.”
