An Edgecomb woman who lost control of her car Saturday morning and hit a tree on Route 27 in Wiscasset remained hospitalized Sunday night.

Wiscasset police said Kristin Ramile, 25, was flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after the accident. Ramile was listed in critical condition later Saturday. On Sunday night, a hospital spokeswoman said Ramile’s family had requested that her condition not be released.

Police Sgt. Kathy Williams said Ramile was driving south on Route 27 around 6:45 a.m. when her 2007 Toyota Yaris crossed the center line, struck a ditch, went airborne, hit a tree and rolled over. No one else was in the car.

A Wiscasset ambulance crew took Ramile to Wiscasset High School, where the helicopter landed.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Wiscasset police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Route 27 was shut down for about an hour after the accident.
