BANGOR — The Bangor Daily News, which sold its building in May, is moving to a downtown location.
The newspaper reported Wednesday that the 125-year-old news organization is moving to 1 Merchants Plaza, a seven-story office building.
Todd Benoit, vice president and chief operating officer, said the media company is “excited about moving into the heart of the Bangor downtown.” The newspaper has been headquartered at 491 Main St. since 1954.
Cross Insurance purchased the Main Street building from Bangor Publishing Co. and has been renovating it to serve as the company’s headquarters. Employees have been sharing the building while the Bangor Daily News looked for a new home.
